London is a massive City with all different ethnicities and religions, so you’d think it would be hard to bring everybody together for one big, however justified, cause such as Fairtrade BUT it turns out smaller counties are the one with the biggest problems!!: Tories heading up the West Lancashire constituency have REFUSED to use Fairtrade coffee in their council canteen or push for Fairtrade status because they say it doesn’t taste nice!
Funnily enough West Lancashire District Council refused to comment, not surprisingly though, I mean how on earth do they defend something like that!?
Apparently the texture or blend of the coffee isn’t good enough for their right-wing blue-blood preferences, according to them it seems, their tastebuds are more important than the welfare of farmers across the globe, how lovely!

1. Fairtrade companies such as Cafedirect say that only the best quality beans are used for their coffee. If the farmers are getting a higher price for Fairtrade coffee, surely they will be aiming to sell more, so will use the best quality for their Fairtrade buyers?
2. I’ve lost track of how many different brands and blends of Fairtrade coffee are now available – they are all different. Have West Lancashire council tasted them all and declared they don’t like any of them?
